Slackware and Photography #4 : exiftool

For viewing and editing the exif data for the images, i use exiftool. This tool is so powerful that you can create and manipulate the exif data contains in an image.

Viewing the info....

Editing and Copying... the thing i love to do is, i create a very lousy script to make exiftool to delete all the exif info and copy the info that i want to exif:usercomment. For more information please check the man page.

Nothing fancy... just utilize what's good for me.. of course, the credit goes to the author.. well done.. thank you. :)

Slackware and Photography #1 : Slackware and KphotoAlbum

When i started to learn photo shooting, i was once stuck in the middle where i have some problem to manage my photos under slackware.

How am i gonna manage such a big amount photos? My shutter count reached 8k+ in about 3 months. I dumped all the image files into my harddisk and because they were so messy and i have no choice to delete about 2k+ of them which initially i preferred to keep them all since those are part of my learning process...

How am i gonna do batch rename? Using a customized script? But well, which are under which category? Due to all these issues, i started to source/'google' to find a suitable application running under linux for these purposes.

Finally, I've found KPhotoAlbum which's nice and meet my requirements. Installing it under slackware 12.x considers very simply. :)

Below are the functions which i used most...

Main window...

Maintenance pop-up...

Plugin pop-up...

Export functions...

Batch processing functions...
